The concept of clusters has been applied worldwide and proved to be the most effective to increase efficiency and accelerate economic development in the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises. Extensive features of the cross cluster cooperation relate also to cross-border regions which is recognized and supported by the EU. In accordance with these principles Balkan Project Cluster (№ 2007CB16IPO006-2011-2-167), based on the concept of clusters in cross-border regions of Bulgaria and Serbia, is supported and co-funded by the EU through the IPA program. This project was launched in late April with the term of realization of one year, as a partnership between Cluster House, Niš and the Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development, Sofia.
Meeting was attended by members of project teams – Dr. Danka Milojkovic , Cluster House director and Project Manager of the Balkan Cluster Project, Goran Zlatkovic Coordinator of the Cluster Development activities on the Project, Radmila Stefanović Finance associate, Galina Karamotcheva Project Manager and Dotchka Rousseva, Project Coordinator from the Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development, Sofia.
During the first day of the meeting discussion on development of clusters in the border region, as well as on methodology of cluster development strategy was on the agenda.
On the second day of the meeting, discussion was focused on the establishment of a common methodology, the content of the strategy, the survey – data collection and analysis, data processing and presentation of research results. Participants of the meeting agreed on tools that will be used in research of the cluster needs for establishment of cross-border cooperation, data processing techniques and methodology for the presentation of research results.
